Guys, God, and the Church

Wednesday evenings | 6:30 to 8:00 pm | H5 Building

A new 6-week series, “Guys, God and the Church” will build on a Biblical foundation of what it means for a man to truly live in community, to share life together with other men as a “way of life”.  It’s only when we discover this do we find the ‘sweet spot’ of fellowship, and can effectively build real, safe and deep relationships with other guys.

The benefits of community are numerous, but include a vital and prosperous relationship with God, and our wives, kids, friends and co-workers.  It’s the kind of life God promised us to have (Jn 10:10), but we often don’t claim it.  Very few men ever experience this level of intimate friendship with another guy. If iron never touches iron, it’s insanity to think we can sharpen it. It’s no different of men.  We must connect, even to the point of producing sparks, in order to achieve a desired result. “Guys, God and the Church” will deal with practical stuff that keeps community from forming, and introduce tangible ways for class participants to begin the process of establishing community with other Palmcroft men.

When we live in authentic ‘community’ what does it look like?

  • We’re free to be ourselves…100%
  • We don’t fear judgment, condemnation or alienation because we don’t quite  ’measure up’
  • We actually desire to be held accountable (not hide from it) in real and specific ways
  • We care enough about a few other men to sacrificially invest in their spiritual journeys
  • We intentionally open up with other guys, sharing candidly what God is doing in our lives
  • We learn that ‘community’ is not a buzz word, but a way of life with huge paybacks
