Jesus

The Bible explains that Jesus, who is God, died on a cross in our place, paying the penalty for our sins. Three days later, he rose from death, conquering sin, and now offers the gift of salvation to all who believe.

We are in need of a Savior, whether we realize it or not. In our nature, we have rejected God and turned away from the one who created us (Romans 3:23). The work of Christ, however, is sufficient to bring us back into fellowship with God (Ephesians 2:8-9). To accept Jesus as your Savior, you must simply believe that Jesus Christ was God in human flesh, died for your sins, and rose again (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

Many people believe they are Christians and will go to heaven because of something they do, or don’t do. They believe that if they were born into a religious home, go to church regularly, try to do their best or live a good life they will spend eternity with God after they die. But the truth is, our eternal destiny is not determined by anything we do.

The gospel is good news because I can do nothing to achieve eternal life apart from Jesus Christ. It becomes all about Him. Otherwise how would one know if they have ever done enough? We can’t earn it. We certainly don’t deserve it. It’s free. It is all about who Jesus is and what He did on our behalf out of love.

With sin’s penalty out of the way, we now have an offer of salvation. Whoever believes in Jesus as their Savior, simply by faith, is freely given the gift of eternal life. That’s a promise of God. You can know for certain that you have eternal life. Won’t you trust Him for your salvation today?
